Inexio offers FTTH services in Germany

Inexio has finished the Fiber to the home network construction in the county of Kusel in Rheinland-Pfalz in Germany. Inexio is a network operator in Germany engaged in the deployment of FTTH networks.

Inexio offers high speed fiber optic broadband in Pfeffelbach and Reichweiler in Germnay with a speed of 100 Mbps. Inexio plans to provide 100 Mbps fiber optic based broadband services to Spessart. The network operator estimates that it can start offering the services from August. The target subscribers are interested customers in Spessart and Hannebach and business houses in Kempenich business regions.

Currently Germany does not have any good ranking in terms of percentage of FTTH penetrated house holds, the recent news from Germany shows a positive growth towards more Fiber to the Home deployments.

Qatar unveils investment plan in FTTH broadband network

Qatar Government is planning big on Fiber to the home broadband network in the country. Fiber to the home deployments in the middle east Asian countries have been getting acceleration recently. Etisalat in UAE have been deploying fiber optic cables for the past some years and their FTTH services are getting popularity in the market.

Now it seem it is the turn of Qatar to deploy fiber to the home cables. Qatar announced the plan to invest 550 million US dollars to the fiber optic cable deployments to build FTTH network. These networks will be delivering FTTH broadband services to the the subscribers in the country. As per the plan, 95 percent of the homes will be connected with high speed fiber optic broadband in the coming 5 years.

The use of broadband in Qatar has increased from 41% to 70% with the last 3 years. The new announcements from Qatar will boost up the FTTH broadband and also create job opportunities in the FTTH in Qatar.

Teo selects Eltel Networks for FTTH in Lithuania

Teo, the Lithuanian fixed operator has selected Eltel Networks for the implementation of optical fiber communication networks project in larger towns of Lithuania. Eltel is a network design company. For Fiber to the home projects, Eltel will be the main partner of TEO.

The new fiber to the home projects will be used to provide high speed fiber optic broadband services delivery in Lithuania. Lithuanian subscribers can enjoy high speed service offerings such as 300 Mbps.

Blagoveshchensk airport will be connected to FTTH services

Blagoveshchensk Airport will now be connected with FTTH based high speed fiber optic broadband services. Russian telecom operator MTS launched fixed broadband services to the airport. The high speed broadband which currently offers 2 Mbps can be upgrade to 100 Mbps when required in the future.

MTS has installed a new fiber optic cable to the airport building to deliver faster broadband connection. The length of the fiber optic cable is approximately 850 meters. MTS has plans to launch W-Fi services in the airport. Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore airports provides free internet services to the passengers.

Kyivstar, Ukranian telecommunication operator has connected 43 Ukranian cities to the fiber to the home cable network till now. The customers of Kyivstar can enjoy a high speed broadband experience. The broadband connection speed can go up to 80Mbps. The cost of the high speed broadband in Ukraine by Kyivstar is very cheap compared to the monthly charges in other countries.

Kyivstar offers 80Mbps connection speed at a monthly charge of approximately US$6.9. Kyivstar had merged with Beeline Ukraine in 2010 November. By the end of 2010, the merged entity had more than 266,000 subscribers for its broadband.

Telekom Deutschland offers attractive FTTH Plans in Germany

Telekom Deutschland, German telecom operator plans to deploy Fiber to the home networks in ten cities of Germany by the year 2011 and as part of the plan, they have started the first FTTH roll out in Postdam.Telekom Deutschland has plan to deploy FTTH technology to 21,000 houses in Postdam West and Sued.

In order to connect 21,000 households in Germany, Telekom Deutschland will have to procure approximately 550 kilometers of fiber otpic cables and 76 new network switches. Telekom Deutschland offers a free connection to the fiber to the home technology if the house owner gives permission to carry out the deployment work to Telekom Deutschland before July 15, 2011. This is an attractive offer given by Telekom Deutschland to its potential subscribers.

Google brings FTTH in Kansas City

After much waiting Deutsche Telekom has announced their plans for FTTH connectivity in German cities. Telekom is planning to connect 160,000 households in Germany in 2011 itself.

The fiber optic connections to home will be able to provide upto 1Gbps download and 512 Mbps upload speeds. As per plans, some of the districts in Braunschweig, Bruhl, Hanover, Hennigsdorf, Kornwestheim etc will be connected with fiber optic cables in the current year.

Spanish telecom operator Telefonica announced the launch of high speed broadband through fiber optic networks to its subscribers. The Telefonica under the name united Movistar monikar will offer download speeds upto 100Mbps.

Telefonica is an active telecom operator in South American markets as well. The 100Mbps service will cost approximately USD 118 per month to the subscribers. Telefonica aims business subscribers at first for its high speed broadband service. Telefonica plans to deploy FTTH in 32 new areas.

Qtel pushes FTTH in Qatar

Pratap John in Gulf Times reports that Qatar telecom operator Qtel is ready to offer Fiber to the home based broadband services to its subscribers. FTTH trials in Qatar had finished successfully. In Qatar capital Doha, around 300km of fiber optic cable network has been laid by replacing the legacy copper networks.

Qtel is working with enterprises to support technology upgrade to optical fibers. Qtel is working with educational institutions like schools, colleges and universities to deploy optical fiber based high speed internet services. UAE leads the Global FTTH ranking announced by FTTH Council

FTTH Council had updated global FTTH/FTTB+LAN penetraion based on the criteria accepted by council members. However, in terms of pure FTTH, UAE leads the FTTH ranking list with an impressive 32% of the houses in the United Arab Emirates connected with optical fiber cables. The credit goes to Etisalat, one of the biggest telecom operators in UAE and the Middle East.

We did a homework to separate the FTTH connected houses in the world so that it does not mix with FTTB and other LAN technologies. In this case, the glass optical fiber cable has reached to each home and is terminated at the optical network unit. Alternatively the fiber optic cable coming to the home can be terminated at the wall mount closure or rosette. From the rosette an optical fiber cord connects to the optical network unit.
